Professor Ariel Casarín is an Associate Professor at the business school at Universidad Adolfo Ibañez in Santiago, Chile, where he teaches managerial economics, strategy, and nonmarket strategy at the MBA and Executive MBA levels. He has also previously taught at IAE Business School in Buenos Aires for 11 years. Philip D. Somervell has held the position of Managing Partner at Risk & Crisis Management Latin America (www.cml.cl) since 2014, focusing on risk assessment, business continuity planning, and executing crisis management strategies. His significant contribution involves creating tailored emergency and crisis manuals, policies, and procedures, and overseeing simulation exercises, all demonstrating his expertise in implementing effective risk mitigation strategies.

Drawing from a solid professional foundation, he has held pivotal positions such as the General Manager for Axis Logística (now Axionlog), a 100% subsidiary of Arcos Dorados, overseeing full third-party logistics services for MacDonald’s restaurants in Chile from 2009 to 2011. This experience grants him unique market insights, further enriching his ability to evaluate and assess last-mile delivery strategies for the competition. His comprehensive expertise and understanding of risk management in diverse industries will undoubtedly enhance the value they bring as a judge in the Last-mile Delivery Case Competition. Eric Ostermeier has worked in the Latin American retail sector for over 20 years. He has closely collaborated with significant retail players such as Falabella, Cencosud, Walmart, and The Home Depot, providing him with in-depth knowledge of how the retail industry operates. In addition to his role as a seasoned industry professional, Eric is a partner and founding member of WeShop Chile, an innovative B2B picking and delivery company specializing in outsourced last-mile logistics for prominent retailers in Chile. Eric also holds the position of Managing Director at Puente Sur GTR, a Chilean retail support company which provides specialized merchandising, commercial remodeling, and logistics support services to several of Latin America's largest retail conglomerates and their suppliers.
